Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will have sole responsibility for all Artist Accounting and responsible for the management of a team of two. Responsibilities will include:
• Sole responsibility for all Artist royalties and copyright
• Monthly responsibility to prepare and review General Ledger reconciliations for royalty account provisions and payments
• Supervision of the royalty statement and payment process
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with artists, managers and other external business partners
• Supervision and development of two staff
• Contribution to reporting to parent company for Australia
• Maintaining and overseeing further development of the royalty system
• Proactive advice on Artist royalties to Finance and Business Affairs
Your ability and desire to grasp a sound understanding of the music industry and its royalty/copyright responsibilities is key. You will also need the following skills/experience:
• degree (finance/accounting or related discipline)
• professional qualifications (CA, CPA, CFA) preferable although not essential, depending on experience
• strong systems skills
• excellent communication skills and time management (project management and planning)
• staff management and development experience
• ability to deal effectively with a wide range of people – internal and external
• royalty/copyright processing and royalty contract interpretation (desirable)
